Wood pellets and wood powder as biofuel for asphalt production
Sustainable conversion from oil or gas to biofuels
In Sweden, energy and carbon taxes on fossil fuels have made it economically advantageous to invest in a transition to renewable biofuels. In many asphalt plants, biofuels have replaced oil or gas for heating the stone, which then heats the asphalt mass to the desired temperature. This is to reduce carbon emissions and thus create sustainable production.
The biofuels used are wood pellets or wood powder.
Tomal’s deliveries can include a complete system consisting of pellet silo, mill, filter, wood powder silo, dosing equipment and pneumatic transport of the wood powder to the burner of the asphalt plant’s kiln.
Thanks to Tomal’s precise and even dosing, combustion is achieved without pulsations. This results in very efficient heating and low emissions of NOx and CO.
