Removal of SOX

The burning of fossil fuels and other sulphur-containing substances, such as waste, releases sulphur oxides, SOx. These oxides must be captured before they reach the atmosphere. One way is to add hydrated lime so that these gaseous sulphur oxides, together with the lime, are instead converted into gypsum. A dust that can be separated in the flue gas filters.

Tomal’s equipment consists of a lime silo or a big bag discharger and dosing equipment. The dry lime is usually transported pneumatically and blown into the flue gas duct before the filter unit. Sometimes we also mix the lime with water in a tank. The lime slurry is then pumped into the flue gases.
